Finally, a definitive answer to the question plaguing every single person: How many dates until we get to do it? Time Out's new global dating poll clears up this and many other questions. According to responses from more than 11,000 people in 24 cities around the world, you should wait 3.53 dates to do it, "mid-fourth date, after the mains have been cleared and just before the creme brûlée arrives."
Some other revelatory findings:
  • 1 in 10 people consider sex at the end of the first date okay. So if you can't wait, 10 percent of the world is with you.
  • You should stop seeing other people after 6 dates. And go official after 9.
  • 53 percent of first dates end with a kiss. 20 percent end in nudity. And 40 percent end in a second date.
  • 1 in 5 people have dated a friend's ex. 1 in 10 have dated their boss. And 17 percent have dated their best friend.
  • While 60 percent of people say online dating gets them the highest number of dates, 62 percent say their best dates come from people they meet through their friends.
  • It takes only 2-3 minutes on average for people to decide whether they want a second date.
