Trippy Video: A Train Ride Recorded With A Handheld 3-D Scanner
Probably one of the top five weirdest things you will associate with public transportation.

Artist Chris Coleman rides the Denver Light Rail, and one day, started to record the train and its stations with a handheld 3-D scanner and laptop. (Sure. Why not. Probably a long ride.) He then digitally manipulated the scans to make METRO Re/De-construction, a video art project. The bumps and speed of the train affected Coleman's hand while he was taking the scans; they show up in the video in forms of fragments and missing pieces. From Coleman's page:
METRO is a journey, beginning outside and moving inwards. Sometimes enveloping and sometimes sparse and shattered, time produces forward motion and simplification. It is documentation of a physical space, captured millimeter accurate coordinates, colors and varied textures. Several real journeys have been digitally distilled to become a beautifully abstracted experience, not unlike to the disconnection one has while riding public transport. The results are kaleidoscopic, mind-warping, and seriously fun to watch.
