Villa Guerrero/비야 게레로 in Samsung-dong/삼성동

118-21 Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Authentic Michoacán-style carnitas. Simply the best thing I've eaten in a very long time.
Forget about all the superfluous stuff like interior design, utensils, doilies, restaurant rankings, geography, and margins for now.
You go here for the pork. That glorious, succulent, wonderful pork.
And their luscious guacamole.
I'm not going to go any further in detail about the food lest I spoil the experience for others. Besides, I have a feeling the topic will be broached ad nauseam as this place becomes more popular.
Yes, the tortillas are nothing to write home about, but, once you try their carnitas, you'll know that it doesn't matter.
With an amiable owner/chef that is hands-on with each order and eager to answer all your questions in either Korean or English (and come to your rescue when you've lost your way despite having a restaurant full of customers), an atmosphere without a hint of pretension, and food that not only tastes great but is an excellent value, I'll be recommending this place to my friends and family without hesitation.
This place has shot to the top of my favorite restaurants list in Seoul: all it took was one bite of their taco. I love this place. Thanks, Jason Park for bringing this restaurant to my attention.
