Lift big, earn big.
More sweat could equal more money. Guys who work out at a vigorous level for 30 minutes at least six times a month earn 14 to 17 percent more than their lazier counterparts, according to new Finnish research.
The link between exercise and income isn’t a new phenomenon by any stretch, but this study offers a unique twist: The authors chalk up the ability to earn extra cash to an increased workplace perseverance and competitiveness that you gain from a rigorous fitness regimen.
There’s room for upward mobility no matter how much you work out. Increasing exercise from up to five 30-minute sessions per month to six (which you’re probably already doing) was associated with about a 3 percent jump in income. And the reward is even sweeter the more you sweat: People who spend at least 3 hours a week exercising earn salaries 9 percent higher than those who don’t, according to previous Cleveland State University research.
