Looking for the perfect stock photo for your blog? There’s no shortage of beautiful stock photos out there, but the price can be prohibitive.
Fortunately, a growing community of photographers have decided to release their photos for free, or the price of attribution.

A Few Tips Before We Get Started:
Finding legal stock images can be tough. You can’t simply look on Google Images, because a lot of those images aren’t listed correctly. Avoid trouble by using a stock repository that clearly states licensing restrictions.
The following list contains images that are either public domain or listed under Creative Commons Attribution. Let’s break down what that means.
What is a Creative Commons License?
A Creative Commons license allows artists to share their copyrighted work for public use. Artists choose how you can use their work. Some photos require a link back to the photographer (also known as attribution), others don’t. Some photos allow you to remix and change it up, others don’t. Some photographers allow you to use their work commercially, others restrict use of their work for personal projects only.
What is Public Domain?
Public Domain photos are not owned by anyone and have no copyright. Photographers can release images to the public for free use. Also, images published in the United States before 1923 are automatically public domain.
Save Now
Instead of relying on your memory, we recommend that you use a visual bookmark board (like Pinterest) or install a Dropbox plugin on your browser and save your favorite images directly to a stock folder.

In order to organize the best resources, we’ll use the star ratings. All of these resources are good (or else we wouldn’t add them to the list), but some excel with ease of search, high quality photography, or library size.
